Attn all Bay Bridge commuters: On Wednesday, June 20, the Maryland Transportation Authority will hold traffic on the Bay Bridge from approximately 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. Traffic on the Key Bridge in Baltimore will be held at approximately 3:15 p.m. for about 20 minutes.
The holdup is for the passage of a marine vessel carrying four large cranes. Times and durations are approximate and dependent upon the vessel's progress.
MDTA says this action is being taken to ensure that motorists are not distracted while traveling the Bay and Key bridges during the passage of this marine vessel transporting four large, fourteen-story cranes up the Chesapeake Bay to the Seagirt Marine Terminal.
To learn more about the cranes and their delivery, visit the Maryland Port Administration's website, mpa.maryland.gov. To learn more about the I-895 K-Truss steel bridge repairs or to view real-time traffic camera images on MDTA roadways, visit mdta.maryland.gov.
