Nothing says summer more than a crab feast with friends and family. On that note, the Rotary Club of Annapolis has you covered. The international service club welcomes all to attend its 67th annual Crab Feast on Friday, Aug. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
This special event is not only the world's largest crab feast but also a major fundraiser that benefits local community and cultural organizations.
It's suggested to come with an empty stomach. Besides large and #1 male crabs, there will also be Maryland vegetable crab soup, sweet Maryland corn on the cob, beef barbeque sandwiches and hot dogs donated by Adam's Ribs, watermelon donated by the Mar-Del Watermelon Association and the Maryland Department of Agriculture, as well as draft beer and assorted sodas. A bake sale and cake raffle will fix those with a sweet tooth.
The event will be held rain or shine. For tickets call 1-877-333-9667 or visit www.annapolistickets.com before noon on the day of the event, or purchase tickets at the stadium box office after 4 p.m. on Aug. 3. Tickets for adults are $60 in advance or $75 at the gate, for children ages 3 to 12 they are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Children under age 3 are free.
There are still seats available in the Preferred Dining area, with guaranteed seating in one of the Preferred Dining tents and a wait staff to bring the crabs to the table. Preferred Dining ("Reserved VIP Dining" on the ticket website) is $120 per person.
No containers, drinks, backpacks, large bags, coolers, or similar items will be allowed into the event. Free parking is available in the stadium parking lot via Gate 2 on Farragut Road or Gate 6 on Taylor Avenue.
Feel like testing your luck? There will be a cash raffle with prizes of $1,000, $500, and $250. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $5 each, or 5 for $20, and you don't need to be present to win. Crab Feast T-shirts and the Annapolis Rotary Club's own Crab Feast Mania Cookbook containing more than 240 crab recipes will both be for sale.
All funds raised at the crab feast are donated to local charities. Last year's crab feast contributed over $70,000 directly to local charities and non-profit groups, and more than $1 million has been awarded since the first Annapolis Rotary Crab Feast in 1946.
