Here's your chance to peek over an artist's shoulder and watch him work his magic. Artists working in a wide range of mediums will be demonstrating their skills at this week's Annapolis Art Walk. It promises to be an enjoyable summer evening for all.
The 22nd Annual Annapolis Art Walk, sponsored by the Annapolis Gallery Association, takes place this Thursday, Aug. 16, from 5 to 9 p.m.
The festive evening celebrates the visual arts. More than twenty galleries in downtown Annapolis are participating in the event, hosting new art exhibits and featuring artists demonstrating their skills in oil, watercolor, ceramics, woodturning, sculpture, jewelry, handcrafts, and more.
In addition, musicians will be performing around town and the galleries will be serving light refreshments.
Yellow balloons and yellow banners are posted at all participating galleries—maps and event listings will be available at each art gallery.
The Annapolis Gallery Association hopes to make the public aware of the diversity and quality of art in this growing center for the arts. During recent years the artist community in Annapolis has expanded rapidly, spurred by the number of visitors to the city and also by the increased number of art galleries.
Parking is recommended at the Hillman Garage off Main Street, the Gotts Court Garage off Calvert or Northwest streets (by the visitor's center), or the Knighton Garage at Colonial Drive and West Street.
The Bladen Street Garage on St. Johns Street by St. Johns College is free and open to the public after 6 p.m. The blue circulator trolley, also free, will travel a circuit through the city and can be hailed for a ride. The walk will occur rain or shine.
