An American abroad: Farewell my friend

Rock climbing pantsRetiring my favorite pair of pants. These are actually "climbing" pants made by The Pro-Rock Climbing Clothing company and I wore them for EVERYTHING. Stylish enough that they looked like jeans (that is, if jeans are, in fact, "stylish" to you. I tell you, when you see some of the WEIRD shit people wear on the road, jeans actually look PRETTY stylish), but being built for climbing, they were as comfortable and as "flexible" as one could possibly imagine.

I continued to have the "ever-occurring" holes sewn during my stay in India (probably 10-12 times) but on a recent day of climbing, the butt and the right knee took some SERIOUS damage. I probably STILL would have kept them around if it wasn't for the "final straw" that occurred during my bike-ride back to the Organic Farm here in Vang Vieng, Laos that same night.

They have been "tarring" the road that comprises the 4 K back to the farm and unbeknownst to me the entire back of the pants and the butt (you can see only a tiny portion here in the photo) became COVERED with this oily, unremovable sludge. At this point, they were BEGGING to be retired. Even so, I am grateful for many years of faithful service! You will be missed, O' Pro Rock Climbing Pants.! Anitya, Anitya, Anitya....
